Thierry Mugler (born 21 December 1948, Strasbourg, Alsace, France; died 23 January 2022, age 73) was one of the most theatrically visionary and most conceptually ambitious fashion and fragrance designers of the modern era. The Mugler fragrance universe is defined by two monumental pillars: Angel (1992 — the first mainstream gourmand fragrance, built around patchouli and chocolate, that invented an entire olfactory category) and Alien (2005 — a radically minimalist white floral amber built around jasmine sambac absolute and white amber, one of the bestselling feminine fragrances in the world). The masculine Alien Man was launched in 2018 as the first true masculine expression of the Alien DNA — a bold, spiced, woody oriental EDT for men.
