Thierry Mugler (born 21 December 1948, Strasbourg, Alsace, France; died 23 January 2022, age 73) was one of the most visionary, most theatrically spectacular, and most conceptually daring fashion and fragrance designers of the late 20th and early 21st centuries — a designer whose work synthesized science fiction, the female body as architecture, the glamour of classic Hollywood, and the transgressive theatricality of the Parisian avant-garde into a creative vision that was entirely and unmistakably his own.
